Hairy Mary & Doing the Dubhs

The final two days on Skye were not as great as 'Heather with the weather' forecast the 'you'll be lucky to find any rain in the UK' quote was far from the truth on this western Isle. However we did escape the worst rainfall by popping down to Elgol and going climbing - the team warmed up with some bouldering on the beach near Prince Charlies Cave, we then ascended a nice slab route before setting up belays at the top of Hairy Mary and Fertility on the larger crag and lowering into the routes to overcome the incoming tide.

Being lowered into Hairy Mary

We headed back to the cafe in Elgol for some tea and cake and then into the Camasunar bothy for the night. The following morning we followed the coastal path with two exciting river crossings to Coruisk and ascended the Dubh slabs over Sgurr Dubh Beag and Sgurr Dubh Mor to descend out of the mist in the early afternoon and down to Glenbrittle.

River crossing one.
